
The history of the Fabergé Museum started in 2004 when the Russian businessman Viktor Vekselberg acquired a collection of works by the House of Fabergé from successors of American media magnate Malcolm Forbes who was a passionate collector of Fabergé works.
The museum is located in the Shuvalov Palace that was renovated specially for it. Its collection contains over 4000 objects including 200 works by Carl Fabergé among them nine famous Imperial Easter eggs. It is the second largest Fabergé egg collection in the world.
The Fabergé Museum was officially opened in the end of 2013. From April 2014 it is open to all citizens and visitors of Saint-Petersburg.
