
Cruiser Aurora is one of the most popular attractions in St. Petersburg. It is more than 100 years old as it was launched in 1900. The cruiser has a long and interesting history full of different events closely connected with the history of our country. Cruiser Aurora participated in Russian-Japanese War, also in WWI and WWII. It is very famous for its taking part in October Communist Revolution in 1917. The shot of Cruiser Aurora was a signal for bolsheviks to start the revolution.
In 1956 after extensive renovation works it became a naval museum very popular with children. In September 2014 it left its historical place in front of Nakhimov Naval Cadet School to be taken to Kronstadt Shipyards to be repaired there. These works are going to be finished in July 2016. The cruiser will return to the city at Navy Day Eve. The authorities of the city are going to arrange a special opening ceremony to greet it. After that its doors will open again for St. Petersburg citizens and tourists.
