Once a closed town in the Gulf of Finland is gaining its popularity among foreign guests.
This place is worth to visit and there are many reasons for it! For a very long time the only way to reach it was by water. This small town is situated on a small island in the Gulf of Finland. Only 7 years ago the road that leads to the island was finished. Not everyone could come here for a long time as the town was closed for ordinary people. Only those ones that had a special permission or were related to the Baltic Fleet as here was a naval base of Russia.
The highest point of the city is the naval cathedral. It is one of the most beautiful cathedrals of the world. It could be seen from Peterhof and other suburbs of St Petersburg. From the viewing platform you can see the whole city.
The island is also surrounded by numerous forts that were built to protect the access to St Petersburg.
Your visit to this interesting and beautiful town is not complete without visiting the ship repairing dock that goes back to Peter the Great’s time.
Do not forget to add this place to your St Petersburg list! We do hope you are preparing such kind of a list.0
