Erarta is the first contemporary art museum in Saint-Petersburg and the biggest private museum in Russia.
Its name means “the time of art”. This museum was open on September 30 of 2010 and since then the very active and full of events life has begun in it – exhibitions, excursions, theatre performances, concerts take place here almost every day.
The museum collection has 2800 exhibits of the second half of the 20th century – the first half of the 21st century – paintings, graphics, sculptures and installation objects. The new works come to the collection regularly as the result of the museum cooperation with artists who work in different regions of Russia and represent different generations and directions in art. In summer 2015 the Erarta collection has become available online at Google Art Project – the biggest internet platform. While using it millions of visitors have received the opportunity to enjoy the world cultural heritage.
Erarta is the museum that does not only support the Russian art but also creates its own cultural projects.
The museum exhibition offers the opportunity to see the works of the already famous painters as well as the new ones. The young artists are talented enough and each of them has its own style in work. Many of them surely will be well-known all over the world later, but Erarta visitors can see their works in the museum right now. Erarta pays special attention to the process of looking for the new names in art.
